In recent days, I have been earnestly researching any tried and true suggestions for getting increased fuel mileage and I found out an interesting correlation. Buy the lowest grade or octane of fuel that is appropriate for your vehicle. Unless your vehicle requires premium gas, filling up your vehicle with premium fuel is a waste of money. That expensive premium fuel won't increase your vehicle's fuel mileage in the least, so let it go and save your money on a dashboard Jesus or Gucci loafers or something!

If you aren’t certain what octane of fuel works best for your vehicle, check your owner’s manual. As long as your vehicle doesn't knock or ping when you fill up with lower octane, you're good to drive on this much cheaper gasoline. Passing on pricey premium gasoline could save you hundreds of dollars per year. This is certainly the most obvious gas saving recommendation of all. Don’t buy the more expensive gasoline if your auto doesn’t need it. Pumping gasoline is not about status!

Don't top off when filling your vehicle's gasoline tank. Any additional gasoline is just going to be wasted. Why waste your money paying for gasoline your vehicle won't use? Stop filling at the first indication that says your tank is full.

When you top off your gas tank there is a likelihood that gas will evaporate or will be overflowed and spill out. This is just wasteful.
There are more situations you may encounter when topping off your gas tank. Fuel expands as it gets hotter. This is definitely a big factor during the summer or in warm climates. Fuel stored in underground tanks will generally be cooler than the air. As it warms up in your gas tank it takes up more space. As the gas takes up more space it requires more room in your gas tank.
If you top off your tank, then there is no extra room for the gas to expand. Where does the expanding gas go? It may find it's way into your car's vapor collection system. The gas that expands and is lost is gas that you had to pay for. Once again that means that you are paying for wastedgas . Your cost of gas is increased again.

Many other suggestions are totally contradictory or wrong... Some articles said don't use your AC which is not very helpful if you are a resident of or it is in the summer in the city! Then I found one article that advises to keep your vehicle's windows open in the city streets but to use the AC while on the parkways because having the windows open while driving at high speeds adds drag which reduces fuel mileage. Who's right? Who's wrong? Who cares? Does it increase fuel mileage? No, probably not!

The most genuine solution to increase your fuel mileage, with gas prices in the $3-4.50 range during the last year or so is to sever your umbilical cord... the one that connects you to the gas pump and drop your chains of slavery to the oil companies and....

Convert to a hydrogen engine!
How would it be you never needed to buy another gallon of fuel again?
Convert your fuel engine to hydrogen.
If you do a partial (hybrid) conversion then you can expect increased fuel mileage of up to 30% maybe more.
If you do this and also add acetone to your gas tank (which will save you another 25% or so) then you will have reduced your fuel consumption by a combined 50%! Put in about 2-3 ounces of acetone per 10 gallons of fuel and the fuel will evaporate less easily and you increase your fuel mileage by 25% or more.
If you do a full gas to hydrogen conversion then you will have pumped your last gallon of fuel for the rest of your life. It is very simple to do, costs next to nothing, helps the environment and you will have the reward of knowing that you are helping to conserve resources instead of using up more than your fair share.
