Don’t get the more expensive gas if your automobile doesn’t need it. Pumping gas is not about status!

Don't top off when fueling your car's gas tank. Any additional gas is just going to be wasted. Why throw money out the window paying for gas your car won't use? Stop pumping at the first indication that says your tank is full.

When you top off your gasoline tank there is a likelihood that gasoline will evaporate or get overflowed and spill out. This is just wasteful.
There are more situations you may encounter when topping off your gasoline tank. Fuel takes up more space as it gets hotter. This is absolutely a big situation during the summer or in warm weather climates. Fuel from underground tanks will generally be cooler than the air. As it gets warmer in your gasoline tank it takes up more space. As the gasoline takes up more space it needs more space in your gasoline tank.
If you top off your tank, then there is no extra room for the gasoline to expand. That is the definition of a problem It may find it's way into your car's vapor collection system. That could easily muck up this system causing it to have damage. If this occurs your vehicle will perform inefficeintly and have high gasoline emissions.
The gasoline that expands and is lost is gasoline that you had to pay for. Again that equates to unusedgasoline . Your cost of gasoline has gone up again.

Many other tips are totally contradictory or wrong... Some articles suggested don't use your AC which is great if you are a resident of or it is 100 degrees in the city! Then I found one article that advises to keep the car windows open in the city streets but to keep your AC on while on the highways because if you have the windows open while driving above 55MPH adds drag which increases gasoline consumption. Who's right? Who's wrong? Who cares? Does it improve fuel economy? No, probably not!

The most genuine solution to reduce your gasoline consumption, with gasoline prices in the $3-4.50 range up and down over the last year or so is to sever your umbilical cord... the one that binds you to the gasoline pump and drop your chains of slavery to the oil companies and....

Convert to a hydrogen engine!
What if you never had to buy another gallon of gasoline again?
Convert your gasoline engine to hydrogen.
If you do a partial (hybrid) conversion then you can expect to see increased fuel economy of up to 30% maybe more.
If you do this and also add acetone to your gas tank (which will save you another 25% or so) then you will have lowered your gasoline consumption by a combined 50%! Put in about 2-3 ounces of acetone per 10 gallons of gasoline and the gasoline will vaporize less easily and you reduce your gasoline consumption by 25% or more.
If you do a full gas to hydrogen conversion then you will never have to buy another gallon of gasoline for the rest of your life. It is very simple to do, costs hardly anything, doesn't pollute the environment and you will enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to conserve resources instead of using up more than your fair share.
